sweet song of salvation
dying a blood red death
methamorphosing
butterfly with bullet's wings
and rosebud with fangs
and then there was
sweet, dulcet life

a silent siren
sonorous golden refrain
shot
with shards of ice

voice like a dagger
beautiful and lilting
and perfect
and dead
laced with cool superiority
and sinuous malice
and the pulsing
beating
naked wonder
of the ruby red inside
mixing paradox and power
in swirling sanguine
and the world without end
